Dragon

This is one of the variations for a tattoo I have been trying to get right for years.  The motif is the Phoenix and Dragon, which after Kelly and I decided to use in our shared tattoo, found to be a powerful pairing from ancient China.  Seems fitting. I really wish I had left myself more time today to work on this one, because It has been too long since I have done so, and with the time crunch I was forced to improvise on the wings rather than put them together thoughtfully.

DRAGON, KNIGHT, ADVENTURE

Fighters,
Okay so I know I owe you rotton but I couldn't decide how to approach it yet and had this idea for knight/dragon/adventures so I decided to roll with it and knock out a little more of The Nothing. Like always it really sucks to get behind but the last couple days were amazing.

Jeremy,
Our new weapon is visitor.

Actually I left out "really". "...things would appear as they really are" I want to hang out so I fought hastely today.
I've always liked that quote and I really love some of William Blake's poetry and woodcuts. His Illustrations truly make the poems. If you are not familiar you need to be.
Jeremy,
Your new weapon is "half plant half animal".

I had Kelly say something into her songify app but I'm having trouble posting it. Gimme tomorrow and I will get it up here. Sorry!

I added a link but it went to a bunch of my documents so I'll try again later.

Lion

Hey! Here's a lion I stitched. That's right... stitching is not just for yo' grandma no mo'.

I'm always pushing myself to try things I've never done before so tonight I was digging through my art box and found a spool of thread and said to myself, "Hey, Adam, wouldn't it be cool to use string for a lion's mane."
"Hells, yes," I responded, "but we might as well do the whole shebang. Also, I think he needs an eyepatch"
"Ahoy," I whole hardily agreed.

Then 2.5 hours later

"Well, it's not what I expected"
"Yar"
"Are you a pirate lion?"
"YAR ROAR"
"Hurry let's post it! there's 5 frickin' minutes left! AHH!"

ok, I scanned it so you can see the detail.
Jeremy,
Your weapon is heartbeat.

This is a silhouette of the rock of cashel in Ireland, a great big rock on which a cathedral was built. It sits on a wide plain very much like it was tossed there. My honeymoon was so much fun.

Black

My India Ink from years ago was only dregs, which I knew from a project a couple of weeks ago, and I decided to just let fly with a brush and see what happened.  I made a few things you don't see here because they aren't good.  You can vaguely see one in the picture (the bottom black bar actually says "BLACK" as well).  I think the picture being on a light-board somehow sells this one.  It's like an accidental metaphor, where the word "black" becomes the substitute for art that I make using the light-board.  The other amusing thing about this submission is that I doubt any of the pixels in this image are a true black.

I look forward to my new weapon and your submission!  I wonder if you'll stick with the colors theme or change directions...

Page 106

Blue

I just finished reading Lonesome Dove today.  I wanted to do something inspired by the book, but I didn't want to do as much work as some of them would have required.  Lots of people throughout the story die and are buried along the trail, and this is all most of the gravesites are. I didn't exactly plan this one out at first,  really I just picked up a spray can and started spraying around the edges, and then the rest followed pretty swiftly thereafter.

Red

Fighters,
Red is my favorite color! That said, I had a million ideas today. I really tried to steer clear of sex and violence but my mind kept veering back to "the red light district". I also saw som cool things done with cut paper that I wanted to steal try out. I like it...i will probably do more stuff with cut paper in the future.

Jeremy,
Since we seem to be on a roll with this whole color thing... your weapon is blue.

Light Blue

Fighters,
Today my weapon was light blue. I decided to really put myself into my art tonight. Originally I was just going to go Bluebeard... Then I decided to see what it would look like if I dyed my hair (something i've never done)... Then I was like FREEEEEEDDOOOOOMMM!

Jeremy,
Your weapon is desert.

Page 101 and penalty

He wanted to be strong, stronger than anyone/ He screamed with joy

Fighters,
This piece was done on my way home to St. Louis from my friend's wedding in springfield. I took the Megabus from Kansas City and while it was supposed to have wifi... not all things go as planned (I need a smart phone). I'll scan it when I get the chance but I extremely tired now.

This piece is dedicated to the 99.9% of science experiments gone awry. While we all know that one can gain superhuman abilities by injecting the right formula, being exposed to just the right amount of radiation or getting bitten by that special kind of spider... shit happens and most of the time it has horrible, horrible consequences.

Jeremy,
Great job getting caught up! Loving the sequential art. Your penalties were off page 102... I confused but let's say it's my day. Give me a weapon off 103 and we'll pick back up from there.

Beautiful, Stronger, Acrobat, and Shouted for joy

Wowsa, we sure hit that hundred-page mark like a trainwreck.  Out of town weddings and narcolepsy, bad internet connections and ideas that didnt pan out.   This post includes the two penalties that I accrued and Adam sent me a picture of his to verify that he had something even though he couldn't get to the internet.

Really, we both deserved double what penalties we have, but we were out of touch for a couple of days, so in the interest of getting back on track, here we are.

I don't know whose day it is...

Golden

Fighters,
OK, so this one needs a little explaining. For some reason the first thing i thought of got stuck in my head... James Bond (from Golden-eye... the game) as Russell from Almost Famous during the climatic scene were he drops LSD and jumps of the roof yelling "I'm a golden god". A little schizophrenic and obscure I know. I chose this perspective because I wanted you to chose your favorite Bond and pretend to be him pretending to be Russell Hammond from Stillwater

Jeremy,
Your weapon is beauty or handsome... whichever is your preference. It's Our 100th page tomorrow which means we are well over 100 posts! Time to party!

The moment is forever.

I knew I needed to post a picture today. This picture isn't anything special in it's craft, but it's a moment from this day.  I may not have remembered this particular moment forever, but now it has been photographed and immortalized. Those infinite moments happen most often with this kid these days, and I wouldn't miss any of them for the world.

Seed

I just didn't want to be late...

I was gonna go with love it or you're a racist, but I wasn't sure and didn't have time to explore the concept enough to see if it meant anything.  This one means, I love watermelon.

Page 97

SEED
Fighters,
When I die place a seed in my chest and plant me in the soil so that I can live on... but be sure to water me otherwise I'll haunt you. Yes, whenever I think of seeds I think of Orson Scott Card's Speaker For the Dead... Even though that's as far as I got in the Ender Saga. I really liked the idea of living on as a tree.

Jeremy,
It's finally not my day tomorrow. Whew, I already feel the relief. Tomorrow your weapon will be "this moment is forever". Kinda like "...and in that moment, I swear we were infinite" from perks don't ya think? I know it could be a tough one so feel free to take either moment or forever as a single word. I just couldn't resist since we are who we are.

Moon Child (stolen)
This pretty much sums up my float trip... :) Cheese Balls were a kind of sacred food this weekend so this is me (check the sunburns) stealing them from the moon.

I started writing a children's book about a boy named Oslo who stole the moon based on the phases of the moon but got stuck and realized too late it wasn't going to happen. So sorry.

Jeremy,
I'm sure to be swallowed alive so here's a weapon; lets fight together with "Teleportation"

Carved
I know I've been kind of operating on a theme here for the last few days, but this one seemed appropriate for my medium.

Adam, you would give me a carving topic on the day I'm driving to the lake. I really want to get into woodcarving, and plan on doing some more carving for my submissions when I can. As it is, all I could muster while in the car is an apple carving. I was inspired by a picture of a much much more skillful apple carving of the planet earth I saw on pinterest I think.  I would find it and include it here but it would make mine look like a poop carving of poop.

EDIT:  Sorry Adam, I really thought I had included your topic here, but I was mistaken.  Your topic is Trembling

Dead Letter (penalty Carved)

Fighters,

I honest forgot to post yesterday. I looked at it early in the morning decided that I would do a skull an crossbones motif and then sat on it until time past... oh well. So as a penalty I chose Carved as your weapon Jeremy and went to it. My stamp didn't work so well but I kind of like that it didn't. I carved it from a piece of dial soap and in hindsight should have gone the potato route when I realized I used all my lino. I forgot how crumbly soap is. I think the only time I've carved soap was i  Boy Scouts when I carved out a poor excuse for a bear. It was fun though. I'm off to go float the Niagua! see ya on Sunday night. Yes I realize i will miss but i'll take it for a weekend of debauchery.

Jeremy,
again your word for today is Carved and for Sunday (just in case) it will be Foreign Language.

Adam, I'm giving an option, becaquse i like where either of these weapons could go.  Choose whichever you like.  Dead letters or story within a story (the neverending story appearing in the neverending story, play within a play, etc.)

Adam your topic is blinding rain.

Frightened Children

Snake

Hey Fighters,

Sorry for not posting yesterday. I was doing some reconnecting and didn't get home on time. Anyways my first thought for frightened children was grimm's fairy tales... the dark ones. I was gunna go for Hansel and Gretel... but my mind drifted to goldilocks and how utterly terrifying it would be to wake up with three large bears snarling over you. Goldilocks was lucky to make it out with her life... perhaps she didn't in the original? i don't know as i've never read it.

The second, my penalty for today, was snake. I really wanted to do something about parseltongues so this was originally just an old west parseltongue... but I found that i could turn the snake around and have a joke that could be quickly digested (a rattlesnake falling in love with a cowboy's snakeskin boots). Ever since Jeremy and I discussed the expanded Harry Potter universe, i've really want to do something with an American setting... but that is for a later day.
